Blow To The Outside of Right Eye

01 June 2003
My boyfriend has taken up Thai Kick Boxing. Sunday just gone he took a blow in the outside of his right eye. He said he saw colours and flashes, was trying to look straight but the eye kept moving very slowly like he affected his reflexes. The corner of his eye was extremely blood shot and he could not touch the eye because it hurt and also had a headache up to Thursday from when it happened on Sunday. He has been getting white flashes in the corner of his eye ever since Sunday. They come on every half hour or so. If he looks in the corner of his eye when the flash occurs he can see a white fast light, which he described as if somethings has past his face/eye really quick. He wont go to the doctor so i am trying to track down a reason because i know it must be serious and i want him to go to the GP but he wont until i tell him some seerious reason for these flashes! Please help!!!!!!

Response
He could have some serious injury, flashes of light around the eye could indicate a detached retina. He should seek immediate advice from your local Accident and Emergency Department.
