Abdominal Pain

01 May 2002
I've been suffering abdominal pain in my right iliac fossa intermittently for the past 6 months. When I first suffered it in august, I was taken into hospital and underwent various blood tests and ultrasound but given an all clear, i was dehydrated so put on a drip and the pain cleared up .It reappeared in december and was quite severe but went after a few days. Now it is less severe but occurs more regularly for prolonged periods. I have no other symptoms except tiredness. I was suffering a mild eating disorder which started in summer but I am not underweight and I am generally eating better now.

You don't say if you are a man or a woman, but in any case I think it would be wise to see your doctor, to exclude any underlying medical problem. It could be irritable bowel syndrome, but there are other possibilities such as inflammatory bowel disease, kidney stones, or gynaecological disorders if you are a woman, to name a few. Make an appointment in the near future.
