Can't seem to orgasm

01 January 2002
I have a problem that is really affecting my self-esteem and I don't understand what is wrong. I can't seem to orgasm with any man I have been with. With my current boyfriend I get really turned on but I get to the point where I feel I should orgasm but nothing happens. I feel like there is something wrong with me. It isn't as if I am not turned on, its as if my body is freezing up or something. Do you think there is something wrong with me?

Response
Don't worry, this is surprisingly common, I say surprisingly because a lot of information about sex never really mentions the difficulties that some women have in reaching orgasm. There certainly is nothing wrong with you. Try reading some of the information that Relate have to offer on Relate. There are lots of books that can offer you useful advice. If you are still having problems, Relate offer psychosexual counselling and I am sure that some discussion with you would help you achieve orgasm. Another useful website is Sexual Dysfunction Association. Look under the section on female sexual dysfunction.
